my inspiration
Portrait photography, to me, is more than just capturing a face—it’s about building a world, crafting a mood, and telling a story. My inspiration comes from the books I read, the films I watch, and the process of recreating memories from the places I’ve been and the people I’ve encountered—filtered through the language of cinema.
I’m particularly drawn to classic Hollywood, film noir, and the timeless elegance captured by photographers like Yousuf Karsh, Richard Avedon, Horst P. Horst, and contemporary artists such as Lindsay Adler, Emily Soto, and Kristian Schuller, But beyond lighting and composition, my background in concept design shapes the way I approach portraiture.
When I create an portraits, I don’t just focus on the subject—I imagine the entire scene around them. Who are ? What is their story? What kind of world do they belong to? My experience in character and environment design allows me to carefully craft the styling, wardrobe, and atmosphere of each shoot, much like designing a scene in animation or film.
Every element—from the direction of light to the textures of fabric—plays a role in shaping the final image. Whether in a studio or on location, I treat every portrait as a cinematic frame, blurring the line between photography, storytelling, and design to create compelling, immersive imagery.
